We watch a movie on July 16 this was a movie about a guy that committed crimes and the FBI was in look for him. The FBI used help from a guy that used math to track down were he lives and were he works his results dont give the adress. The guy was found at work and was shot by an FBI agent. We used the computers to construct points of origins, triangle, and perpendicular bisectors. This movie shows how geometry is used in other ways.

alex's numb3rs activity

in the show numb3rs an F.B.I agent has a case on a serial rapest . The agent little bro by accident saw the map and found saw a way to pin point the rapest vlocation using advanced trigonometry. After we finished the show the class made a triangle and found the inpoint,cicumcenter, and centeriod. We randomly put three points on a white peice of paperthe we connected all the dot with line segments and found all the perpendicular bisectors.

Vicky`s Numb3rs Activity 1

In the movie, Numb3rs, Charlie was used to help find the murderer. He said that the murderer is choosing different victims and is trying not to make a pattern so that the murderer won`t get caught. But even though the murderer tries to do that, it doesn`t work. Charlie helped prove it by telling the FBIs to arrange themselves randomly. He came up with an equation using trigonometry to find out where the murderer lives, but soon found out that they couldn`t find him there. So he created two hot spot and looked up people from both locations. They narrowed it down to 8 people and caught the murderer for his past reputation.

As you know this movie is called Num3ers and that this movie is about the F.B.I looking for a L.A. serial rape killer, who has killed many womens. So the F.B.I ask a mathmatician named Charlie. They asked him to track down the killer's home by using the patterns of the killer's killing and where the location that the killing of the ladies occured. So when the mathmatician using math to track down the location of the killer's home, he used some what geometry and other math courses that i don't know what is the name and for that he used a circle and inside the circle was where the victims were killed and that the victims became the vertices or points of a something that forms a similiar oval or circle and that the killer's house became the point of origin and also the circumcenter and when Charlie made the circumcenter from the location where the victims were killed. It closed down to a triangle between 3 victims that are very near the killer's home. So then, Charlie used the perpendicular bisectors from the victims place and the midpoints from victims to victims and also when they find out the home place he wasn't there and so the F.B.I. thought Charlie had an error in his calculations in finding the killer's home. But then, they founded new informations and so they give this information to Charlie and he starts over and found where it is. But he had to construct it on the map of the town and so he used his computer since it made the job better and printed on the map and told the F.B.I. his new calculations and the F.B.I. found it before it was too late for another victim to be dead. So then the killer was killed. So this is how the killer was found somewhat like this.

Jenny's Numb3rs

The movie called Numb3r is about a mathematician name Charlie, the murder man, and the polices. There was a person who had murdered a lot people near his house. However, he moved so they had a hard time to figure he was the killer. Charlie, the mathematician who had tries many way to track him down and he also used many kind of geometry to help him figure out who might be the murder. He used the circumcenter to figure out that they victims was near his house. He was so smart that he used the perpendicular to figure out the circumcenter. The point of origin was where he lived, also the victim was make into a triangle. He also construct a map to tells him where the killer might be located. They also used computer to figure out each guy germs that might be involved in the murder crime. Eventually, they started to do the second steps which find the place where they lived, but the murder move so then they can't track them down. When they keeps on looking, they finally find the murder's workplace. Then he went in, he found maybe evidence that he was a murder killer. The murder figured out that they know that he was the murder, so he decided to run away. Finally they figure out the murder. YAY!!! HE GOT CAUGHT!!!!

Jenea's Fruity Paragraph About Numb3rs

This is a paragraph about the show/episode my whole class watched on July 16, 2007 called Numb3rs. The show called Numb3rs is about a man named Rob Morrow, who works for the police in the investigation department as an FBI Agent. He's trying to find out who the L.A rapist is, the person who's been commiting crimes in Los Angeles. Rob Morrow has trouble on finding out where the perpetraitor's home is or where he works, even by using the computer he still can't construct a a motive or alliby. His gifted brother, Charlie Morrow helps him and the Bureau on finding out where the suspect is by using "Numb3rs" to find out the point of origin where the hot spots are or where the rapist is hiding at. Charlie used the map to find the area where the victims were raped and killed. By using the map grid he made calculations to make probablilities that formed a triangle shape, then he made a perpendicular bisector of the triangular shape to find where the suspect might be, by finding the circumcenter of the triangular shape. Charlie pin-pointed where the perpetraitor lived, but he never thought of where the perpetraitor might work untill his older brother Rob gave him the idea. So Charlie found a second point of origin or hot spot where the suspect worked.

Khanh's Numb3rs Activity

Charlie was helping his brother figure out a crime scene using math in the video, he is trying to construct the probability of the hot spot of the suspect and he found the point of orgin which can also be the circumcenter of the suspect home on the hot spot later on using the places victims were being rape and the murder. The point on the grid create a triangle and he perpendicular bisector the triangle and it made a big hot spot for it then the result was not really accurate because the suspect is living there but not in that location at time. The criminal didn't want to make a pattern so it's next victim but there was in a way because the grid Charlie made show the chance and accuracy and because of one location was wrong the criminal gor to his nexst victim. Charlie made another equation from the new information he got agian andthis time it was the correct data he need and he figured out another hot spot for the place the criminal can be working. Two hot spot narrow down the path of the suspect and give a better result. His brother Rob Morrow then use the computer to analyze the suspect around the hot spot and he found one that is around there and he went to check and the criminal was really there.

Here is the picture of the Numbers activity I did, that shows the patterns of the victims. The pattern forms a triangle and a circle. The point of origin is in the middle of both the triangle and circle. The vertices are the victims and the circumcenter is the point in the middle of the traingle that is intersected by the perpendicular bisectors. I used the computer's geometry sketchpad to construct this picture of the circle and triangle of the victims.

Janet's Numb3rs Activity 1

We watched a show called Numb3rs. It is about a FBI that is looking for a rapist. His brother, whose name is Charlie, helped him find the rapist. He found the rapist using trigonometry, computers, and geometry. Charlie tried to find where the rapist worked and lived. He also found out that the rapist would go to different targets. The victims were placed in different places in the triangle and the rapist was in the point of origin. The point of origin is the same place as the circumcenter. Charlie constructed a map of where the rapist could live. He found a spot that the rapist can be. At the end, Charlie's calculations were right about where the rapist lived.

Which is the close address to where the murder live and works, so he knows that the murder is close to where.Then he use the map and the address to find out the murder.
