Jenny's Goals

During this summer, I think i have improve everything cause i know that i can not be perfect. Also i learned many new things from Ms. Abernethy. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Basically I really wants to be a doctor, so I needs to do well at school. To reach my dream goals, I needs to be sucessful at SCHOOL. However I still got more school to go, I needs to try my best to achieved my goal. THANK YOU

Jenny's Mayan Number at Ancient Mexico




Do you know that Mexico used ancient math? The Maya is an acient tribe in Mexico. The Mayan system of writing numbers was very simple. The way they wrote out numbers was using bars and dots. Each dot represents a 1 and each bar represents a 5. They could used the same system and also they could write out any number from one to twenty by placing bars and dots on top of eachother. There is another way that we could used it, by add two of the Mayan numverals together very easily by adding the dot together. The Mayan system was similar like we are having symbols right now.This same system are also used today in the tribes suchas Hopi and Inuits. They can also add with these large number easily because it mostly be small digits. This is the way that you guys could figure out the Mayan number. First add together the bars and dots in the 1s place. When the sum is over twenty, there will be some carrying to the next will involved. Next, you add the bars and dots in together that are in the 20s place. However, they could used other materials to helps you figure out. Also in the acient time, they used to trade with he same amount of things so they wont get ripped off. Eventually, every country math started to spread over the world and people are started learning and it is alsoo really useful over the world.

Jenny's Fibonacci






Are you interested to know what is fibonacci about? Fibonacci numbers are a sequence where the first terms are both 1. It is also used for many things such as mathematics also you could also found around the nature. Fibonacci camed from Arabic Number from a book called Liber Arabic. However, there is another way to figure out ancient greek by using proportion. While you are doing proportion, we needs to do cross multiply. When you do the fibonacci, you needs to divide the fibonacci then you needs to used the quadratic formula to figure out the sequences. When we tries to find out the sequences you needs to used F(n) is the output and the N is the input which helps to found out the next value of terms.

FINGERS:
In the fingers, you needs to measure the length of the bones in your finger like slightly bending your fingers. Also you cant finger out the ratio of the longest bone in a finger to the middle bone is PHI. It is actually about the golden section ratios of bone lengths in the human hand. "The lengths of fingers from their rotation points in almost 200 hands and again fails to find to find phi (the actual ratios found were 1:1 or 1:1.3)."

MUSIC: Piano:The basic structures of a regualr instruments display of Fibonacci numbers and the Golden section. The most widely used instrument in music, the piano, displays the use of Fibonacci numbers. For instance, there are 13 notes that separate each octave of 8 notes in a scale. The foundation of a scale is based around the 3rd and the 5th tones. Both pitches are whole tones, which are 2 steps from the 1st note of the scale, also called the root.

Ear Effection: The Fibonacci sequence can also display the preference of the human ear to music. The following is some Fibonacci music. It consists of the first eight Fibonacci numbers. For each new number that is performed, the note length is decreased rotationally by 1/2 or 1/3. After four steps of the sequence are completed the tune starts over at the root, one octave up, while the other one continues, so there is an overlapping effect.

Music: The keys of a piano also portray the Fibonacci numbers. Within the scale consisting of 13 keys, 8 of them are white, 5 are black, which are split into groups of 3 and 2.

ARCHITECTURE: This picture is a Core which has an inspiration from the tree, incorporating a central trunk and canopy roof that shades the ground and harvests the sun. The design is based on the Fibonacci code, Nature's fundamental growth blueprint, in which opposing spirals follow the sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34...where every number is the sum of the previous two.

Jenny's Numb3rs

The movie called Numb3r is about a mathematician name Charlie, the murder man, and the polices. There was a person who had murdered a lot people near his house. However, he moved so they had a hard time to figure he was the killer. Charlie, the mathematician who had tries many way to track him down and he also used many kind of geometry to help him figure out who might be the murder. He used the circumcenter to figure out that they victims was near his house. He was so smart that he used the perpendicular to figure out the circumcenter. The point of origin was where he lived, also the victim was make into a triangle. He also construct a map to tells him where the killer might be located. They also used computer to figure out each guy germs that might be involved in the murder crime. Eventually, they started to do the second steps which find the place where they lived, but the murder move so then they can't track them down. When they keeps on looking, they finally find the murder's workplace. Then he went in, he found maybe evidence that he was a murder killer. The murder figured out that they know that he was the murder, so he decided to run away. Finally they figure out the murder. YAY!!! HE GOT CAUGHT!!!!

Jenny's Tetrahedron


This is the picture of our group tetrahedron that we made on July 13. My group members are Muting and Susan. We have a great time working together. Our tetrahedron have all equilaterall triangles and I also see two other triangles in the inside the outside of the triangles. We used straws, needles, and three different color yarns to make our tetrahedron. We started with a regular triangle to make into a polyhedron which have 3 Dimensional. To make another triangle outside of the regular triangle you need to connect the incenter of the triangle. When you about to be finish, the regular triangle going to be in the centroid of the outside triangle. While you're going to the next triangle, then when you finish making the tetrohedron, you will also see a circumcenter inside because they have equal and same shape but different sizes. When you keep on making it to connect the triangles, you also connect it to the orthocenter. To concurrent the tetrahedron, you needs to connects to each straws to make the triangle which could be a good looking shape. You also are doing inverse so all the corners and triangle will meet at the same points. TETRAHEDRON IS REALLY EASY TO MAKE IT.

Jenny's Geometric Art


This is a picture of an astrid that I made on June 28, 2007. Unfortunately to make my astrid, I used alot of geometric measures by using a lot of items. It also shows perspective and proportion. They also produce certain opitical effects. This picture also shows the types of symmetry such as reflection symmetry and rotational symmetry. There are only 4 folds on my astrid that could look exactly the same shapes and sizes when being turn around so many times.

Jenny's Airplane


This is an airplane that made by Jenny T. on July 6, 2007. We use paper to makes our airplane also we are trying to throw it as farthest, straightest, fanciest, and highest. We also have a contest with each other in the class to see who knows how to control the airplane. We also learned how to throw by using different ways to make it fly the way we wanted too. If you just moved the airplanes' wings, it helps the airplanes fly different ways. However, we are going to try to makes an airplanes as good as possible for the next time competition. Next time, I wants to throw my airplane to be the farthest because it could tells how far the airplane could throw. I WISH I'M GONNA WIN NEXT TIME!

Jenny's Rotational Symmetry and Pentagon



Here is a picture of the piece of a pentagon I found with 5 sides. It is three dimensional and has many sides. I also found an object with rotational symmetry. The object was a bell. It had three line of symmetry that could be the same thing, also they could have the same shapes and same size.
